The Nasdaq-100 holds the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq exchange, making it the cleanest large-cap expression of the US technology and growth trade. Launched in 1985, it uses a modified market-cap weighting that caps the largest names to limit single-stock dominance, and the index is reconstituted annually each December.
Because its constituents are long-duration growth businesses — much of their value rests on profits far in the future — the Nasdaq-100 is unusually sensitive to interest-rate expectations, typically outperforming the S&P 500 when yields fall and lagging when they rise. It is the underlying for the QQQ ETF and the CME's Nasdaq E-mini futures, two of the most actively traded equity instruments in the world.
On the session, US Tech 100 is trading at 29,446.18, a move of +938.15 (+3.29%) versus the previous close of 28,508.03. The instrument has ranged between 28,548.50 and 29,506.67 so far today. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Neutral.
