About KOSDAQ
The KOSDAQ Composite Index tracks the common stocks listed on KOSDAQ, the Korea Exchange's market for technology, biotechnology and other growth companies. It is calculated by the Korea Exchange (KRX) and weighted by market capitalisation. KOSDAQ is a separate board from the KOSPI market, which holds Korea's large established manufacturers, so this index is a different benchmark from the KOSPI: the two often move together on national news but can diverge sharply on sector rotation.
Because the board leans toward biotech and pharmaceuticals, secondary-battery materials, semiconductor equipment and parts, software, games and entertainment, the KOSDAQ behaves like a growth-stock index and is usually more volatile than the KOSPI. Domestic retail investors account for a large share of its trading, so local sentiment and momentum count for more than on the senior board. Global appetite for growth shares, US interest-rate expectations, Bank of Korea policy and the won are the main external drivers. The KOSDAQ 150, a large-cap subset, is the version that exchange-listed futures are written on.
The market for KOSDAQ is currently closed. At the last close it stood at 751.69, a move of -12.41 (-1.62%) versus the previous close of 764.10, after ranging between 732.87 and 753.02 over that session. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Strong Sell.

KOSDAQ — frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the KOSDAQ and the KOSPI?
They track two different boards of the Korea Exchange. The KOSPI covers the senior KOSPI market, home to Korea's large exporters in semiconductors, autos, shipbuilding and chemicals. The KOSDAQ covers the KOSDAQ market, where technology, biotech and other growth companies list, so it is smaller, more growth-oriented and usually more volatile. A move in one does not imply the same move in the other.
When does the KOSDAQ trade?
KOSDAQ shares trade in the Korea Exchange's regular session, 09:00 to 15:30 Korea Standard Time, Monday to Friday, with no midday break. Korea does not observe daylight saving, so that is a fixed 00:00 to 06:30 UTC all year. Call auctions set the opening and closing prices, and the market is shut on Korean public holidays such as the Lunar New Year and Chuseok.
What moves the KOSDAQ index?
Sector news in biotech, battery materials and chip equipment moves it most, along with clinical-trial results and earnings from its largest members. As a growth-heavy index it is sensitive to global interest-rate expectations and to the direction of US technology and growth shares. Domestic retail flows, Bank of Korea policy and the won add a local layer on top.
What does the KOSDAQ 52-week range show?
The 52-week range is the lowest low and the highest high KOSDAQ printed across the past 52 weeks of daily bars, so it shows where the current price sits relative to that year's extremes. Computed from FXMARE's daily price history, the current 52-week range is 630.99 – 1,229.42.
