The DAX is Germany's blue-chip benchmark, tracking the 40 largest companies on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange — expanded from 30 members in September 2021 following a reform of the index rules. Its constituents are heavily export-oriented, spanning autos, industrials, chemicals and enterprise software, which makes the index sensitive to global trade conditions, Chinese demand and the euro.
A structural detail traders should know: the headline DAX is commonly quoted as a performance (total-return) index that assumes dividends are reinvested — unusual among major world benchmarks, which are typically price indices. That convention flatters long-run comparisons against price-only peers like the FTSE 100 or CAC 40. As the eurozone's most watched equity gauge, the DAX also responds strongly to ECB policy and European growth data.
On the session, Germany 40 is trading at 25,099.00, a move of +335.88 (+1.36%) versus the previous close of 24,763.12. The instrument has ranged between 24,821.67 and 25,099.68 so far today. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Sell.
