About XLM/USD
Stellar is an open payments network launched in 2014, co-founded by Jed McCaleb and supported by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation (SDF). Its native token is the lumen, XLM, used to pay transaction fees and to hold the small minimum balance every account must keep, which deters spam. XLM/USD quotes the price of one lumen in US dollars and trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week on crypto exchanges.
Stellar does not use mining or proof-of-stake. It reaches agreement through the Stellar Consensus Protocol, a federated Byzantine agreement system in which validators choose which other nodes they trust. The network is built for moving value: "anchors" - trusted issuers, often regulated financial firms - issue tokens backed by fiat currencies, including stablecoins, and its built-in exchange can convert between assets within a payment. In 2019 the network ended its built-in inflation and the SDF burned more than half of its XLM, leaving a fixed total supply of about 50 billion. Smart contracts arrived with the Soroban platform in 2024.
XLM generally follows Bitcoin and the broader crypto market, often with larger percentage moves. Its own drivers include payment and stablecoin activity on the network, partnerships with banks and payment firms, distributions from the SDF's holdings, exchange listings, and regulation of crypto and payments.
On the session, XLM/USD is trading at 0.1699, a move of -0.0066 (-3.74%) versus the previous close of 0.1765. The instrument has ranged between 0.1687 and 0.1777 so far today. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Strong Sell.

XLM/USD — frequently asked questions
What is the Stellar (XLM) price right now?
This page shows the live XLM/USD price, in US dollars per one lumen, with an intraday chart and the 24-hour range. XLM trades around the clock every day of the week, so prices can move at weekends and overnight, when liquidity is usually thinner.
Is Stellar (XLM) the same as XRP?
No. Both networks focus on payments and Stellar's co-founder Jed McCaleb also co-founded Ripple, but Stellar and the XRP Ledger are separate networks with different consensus systems, governance and tokens. XLM and XRP have their own markets and prices.
Does XLM have a maximum supply?
Stellar no longer issues new lumens. Built-in inflation was switched off in 2019, the same year the Stellar Development Foundation burned more than half of its holdings, so total supply is fixed at about 50 billion XLM. Circulating supply still changes as the foundation distributes the lumens it holds.
What does the XLM/USD 52-week range show?
The 52-week range is the lowest low and the highest high XLM/USD printed across the past 52 weeks of daily bars, so it shows where the current price sits relative to that year's extremes. Computed from FXMARE's daily price history, the current 52-week range is 0.1362 – 0.3380.
