About ADA/USD
Cardano (ADA) is a proof-of-stake blockchain launched in 2017 and developed by Input Output (IOG), the company co-founded by Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson, alongside the Cardano Foundation and EMURGO. ADA is its native token, used to pay transaction fees and to stake. ADA/USD quotes the price of one ADA in US dollars and trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week on crypto exchanges.
Cardano runs on the Ouroboros proof-of-stake protocol. ADA holders can delegate their coins to stake pools and earn rewards without locking them up, so staked ADA stays spendable. The total supply is capped at 45 billion ADA. Smart contracts arrived with the 2021 Alonzo upgrade, and the network has since moved toward on-chain governance, in which ADA holders vote on protocol changes and treasury spending.
Like most large-cap altcoins, ADA tends to move with Bitcoin and with overall crypto risk appetite, usually with bigger percentage swings. Beyond that cycle, its price responds to network upgrades and governance milestones, the growth of applications built on Cardano, exchange listings, and regulatory news affecting crypto markets.
On the session, ADA/USD is trading at 0.2554, a move of +0.0004 (+0.16%) versus the previous close of 0.2550. The instrument has ranged between 0.2451 and 0.2565 so far today. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Strong Buy.

ADA/USD — frequently asked questions
What is the Cardano price right now?
This page shows the live ADA/USD price, in US dollars per one ADA, with an intraday chart and the day's range. Cardano trades around the clock every day of the week, so prices can move at weekends and overnight, when liquidity is usually thinner.
What drives the price of Cardano?
Mostly the wider crypto market led by Bitcoin, since ADA has tended to rise and fall with it, often by more in percentage terms. Network upgrades, governance decisions, the growth of applications on Cardano, exchange listings and crypto regulation are the other main factors.
What is the maximum supply of ADA?
Cardano's supply is capped at 45 billion ADA. Coins not yet in circulation are released gradually from reserves as staking rewards, so circulating supply grows over time toward that cap.
