About AAVE/USD
Aave is a decentralised lending protocol in which users deposit crypto assets to earn interest and borrow against them, with rates set by supply and demand for each asset. It began in 2017 as ETHLend, founded by Stani Kulechov, and took the Aave name in 2018. AAVE is the protocol's governance token. AAVE/USD quotes the price of one AAVE in US dollars and trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week on crypto exchanges.
AAVE replaced the original LEND token in 2020, at 100 LEND per AAVE, with a maximum supply of 16 million AAVE. Holders vote on the protocol's risk settings, the assets it supports, fee levels and treasury spending, and AAVE can be staked within the protocol, which has historically formed part of its safety backstop against shortfalls; governance upgrades have since changed how that backstop works. Aave runs on Ethereum and a number of other networks.
AAVE tends to move with Ethereum and the wider crypto market, usually with larger percentage swings. Its own drivers include borrowing demand and the value of assets deposited in the protocol, the fees it earns, governance decisions on fees and token incentives, security incidents across decentralised finance, and regulation of crypto lending.
On the session, AAVE/USD is trading at 140.26, a move of -8.27 (-5.57%) versus the previous close of 148.53. The instrument has ranged between 139.88 and 148.57 so far today. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Sell.
