About TLT
The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF holds long-dated US Treasury bonds with at least 20 years to maturity, making it the market's standard listed expression of long-duration interest-rate exposure. The mechanics are simple and unforgiving: when long-term yields fall, TLT rises, and when yields climb, it falls — with moves amplified by the portfolio's very long duration.
Credit risk is negligible given the US government backing, so rate expectations, inflation and Treasury supply are the entire story. Investors use TLT to position for easing cycles, to hedge equity portfolios (long bonds have often, though not always, rallied in risk-off episodes), or simply to earn the long-end yield via its monthly distributions. Its options market is among the most active of any bond fund.
The market for TLT is currently closed. At the last close it stood at 81.73, a move of -0.47 (-0.57%) versus the previous close of 82.20, after ranging between 81.36 and 82.30 over that session. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Sell.

TLT — frequently asked questions
What is the TLT price today?
This page shows the live price of TLT, the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF, which holds long-dated US government bonds. The quote updates through the US session.
Why does TLT fall when interest rates rise?
Bond prices move inversely to yields, and TLT holds the longest-dated Treasuries — the bonds most sensitive to rate changes. When long-term yields rise, the market value of those bonds falls, so TLT drops; when yields fall, TLT rallies. Its long duration makes it one of the most rate-sensitive mainstream ETFs.
What is TLT used for by traders?
It is the standard liquid vehicle for expressing a view on long-term US interest rates: buying TLT is effectively a bet that long yields will fall (often around recession or Fed-pivot expectations), and shorting it a bet they will rise. Watch CPI, payrolls and FOMC meetings — they are TLT's biggest scheduled movers.
