About SPY
The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, launched in January 1993, was the first exchange-traded fund listed in the United States and remains one of the most heavily traded securities in the world by dollar volume. It tracks the S&P 500, giving one-trade exposure to roughly 500 of the largest US companies, and underpins one of the deepest options markets of any listed instrument.
