About QQQ

Invesco QQQ, launched in 1999, tracks the Nasdaq-100 — the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq exchange — making it the standard vehicle for concentrated US large-cap technology and growth exposure. It ranks among the most actively traded ETFs in the world, with a deep and liquid options market built around it.

Because its underlying index is dominated by long-duration growth businesses, QQQ is more sensitive to interest-rate expectations than broad-market funds: it has historically outperformed the S&P 500 in falling-rate, risk-on phases and lagged when yields climb. Like SPY it is structured as a unit investment trust, an older format that holds dividends in cash between quarterly distributions rather than reinvesting them.

QQQ — frequently asked questions

What is the QQQ price today?

This page tracks the live price of QQQ, the Invesco QQQ Trust, through the US session (9:30am-4:00pm Eastern), plus pre-market and after-hours where available.

What does QQQ actually track?

The Nasdaq-100 index - the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq. It is heavily weighted toward mega-cap technology, so its moves are dominated by a handful of the largest names rather than spread evenly across 100 holdings.

What is the difference between QQQ and the S&P 500?

QQQ excludes financials and tracks only Nasdaq-listed companies, making it far more technology-concentrated than the S&P 500. That means larger swings in both directions: it tends to outperform in tech-led rallies and fall harder when rate expectations rise.
