The iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF, launched in 2003, was one of the first funds to wrap broad emerging-market equities into a single US-listed trade. It tracks the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, spanning hundreds of companies across markets such as China, India, Taiwan, South Korea and Brazil, with country weights that shift as those markets grow and are reclassified.
EM equities carry distinct macro sensitivities: a stronger US dollar typically tightens financial conditions for emerging economies and weighs on the asset class, while Chinese policy and commodity cycles drive large country-level swings. EEM's long history and active options market keep it a standard tactical instrument for expressing emerging-market views, even as cheaper buy-and-hold alternatives exist.
On the session, EEM is trading at 67.50, a move of +2.84 (+4.39%) versus the previous close of 64.66. The instrument has ranged between 65.17 and 67.59 so far today. FXMARE's technical engine currently reads the setup as Buy.
