What it is
Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey reports the monthly net change in the number of employed people, split between full-time and part-time roles, alongside the unemployment rate and participation rate.
Why it matters to traders
The Labour Force Survey is a household sample survey, so month-to-month changes carry a wide sampling margin and sizeable deviations from consensus are relatively common. A reading above forecast typically supports the Canadian dollar, while a shortfall tends to weigh on it.
